Harvesting the sun-ripened raspberries

and sun-dried hay

"As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease."
- Genesis 8:22

  1. I've heard about farmers who have attracted city-folk to do work-tours in Niagara where they harvest ice-wine grapes, which is usually done in the middle of the night at temperatures lower than -10C. They generally only fall for this trick once, a little like Tom Sawyer getting others white-wash the fence for him. I wonder whether these guys harvesting hay would ever invite a tourist to join them? I'd be game. I can imagine that the 'help' would be a serious detriment to their efficiency though -- they have to end up renting a machine bailer to make up for the lost time!

  2. I think you would seriously slow them down, Jon. Interesting about the ice wine harvesting, though - I'm almost tempted! maybe sometime...
