glimpses of God

Look for God in unexpected places...

You just might even see a johnny jump-up blooming in late fall.

  1. I love this! I am planning to lead worship in December using the "Leader" advent materials and this is basically the same image and a similar encouragement to look for the unexpected. Perhaps you've been reading Leader, or perhaps you wrote it! Or perhaps God just shows up in beautiful ways all over the place! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Yes - I've seen the illustration for Leader like this. And I wrote a Christmas play for our church called "Detectives of Divinity" - I stole this title from Bryan Moyer Suderman's song from his new album by the same name. The kids are all detectives, looking for clues of God's presence in the world. So this has inspired me to look too!

  3. I too just came from our Advent planning meeting and read this post. I love your image.

  4. So for those planning the Advent worship, where did you find inexpensive pots and plants for children's time?

  5. Teena: is there any way of just having one plant at the front, instead of plants for all the kids? It seems that I'm always bringing home a plant that is half-dead from church... some have survived, but others, not so much. It seems that the symbolism would still be there even if there were just one plant for everyone to see.
