Thanks for joining me in this space! I like to write about faith, family, and sometimes food.
I am a wife of one, mother of two, daughter of two, sister of three, and educator/creator/collector/writer. I love to view people as "walking stories" and I enjoy bringing those stories to life. I've worked as a high school teacher, kindergarten/grade one teacher, school director, camp program director and counsellor, youth pastor, writer, and editor. Right now I'm working for MennoMedia as curriculum developer.
I like to think of my primary role as the tender of the hearth. Here is a photo that I took that shows this present occupation of mine:
I love working with children and seeing them become excited about stories. I also love to travel and learn from other people and cultures. I'm keenly interested in family, faith and food and the connections between the three. I'm intrigued by how peace can come bit by bit (piecemeal), through small, simple acts like sharing a meal together.
Some questions I like to ponder:
- How is faith formed, no matter what the religious background?
- How can we slow down and live more simply?
- How can we make meaningful connections?
Quotes that inspire me:
Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush; anxious for greater developments and greater wishes and so on; so that children have very little time for their parents; parents have very little time for each other; and the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world. — Mother Teresa
The opposite of war is not peace, it's creation.
— Jonathan Larson Rent
If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.
